Let’s be honest. Ultrahuman is now under strong pressure to release a new generation of its ring. The reasons are clear:

- It's been **two years since the launch of the current model**, the Ultrahuman Ring Air.
- The reputation of AIR version has been hurt by frequent complaints and quality issues with some units (On the plus side, Ultrahuman replaces faulty rings without any trouble).
- And most importantly, due to a patent dispute in the US, which temporarily halted sales in that market.

## ⚖️ **Context: Patent battle with Oura Ring**

In October 2025, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) ruled that Ultrahuman had infringed on a patent held by Oura Health. Specifically, it was U.S. Patent No. 11,868,178, which describes the internal structure of a smart ring – how sensors, the battery, and electronics are layered inside the ring’s body.
**The result?** A ban on the sale and import of the Ultrahuman Ring Air in the U.S.

patent

This was a significant issue for Ultrahuman, especially since the company even operates its own factory in Texas.

However, Ultrahuman responded immediately by announcing the development of a new ring design that would not fall under the disputed patent.

According to their official blog, *“the new ring design is already in development and will be launched in the U.S. as soon as possible”* (source: [blog.ultrahuman.com](https://blog.ultrahuman.com/blog/ultrahuman-is-here-for-long/?ref=lordofthesmartrings.com)).

## **What did the “Ultrahuman Ring Pro” trademark reveal?**

Ultrahuman Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. filed a trademark application for “Ultrahuman Ring Pro” on July 29, 2025 — about three months after Oura Health filed its lawsuit. The timing suggests the company reacted quickly to the situation and started working on a new model that could bring it back to the U.S. market.

A key clue comes from the trademark filing itself, submitted under Class 9\. The document explicitly mentions:

> “software for contactless transactions via mobile and wearable devices”

In other words – contactless payments. This is a feature the current model lacks and one that could become a key differentiator for the “Pro” generation, setting it apart from other premium rings like Oura, Samsung, or RingConn.

Contactless payments and NFC-based car unlocking have been among the most requested features for the upcoming [Oura Ring 4](https://www.lordofthesmartrings.com/tag/oura/) — so this move by Ultrahuman could turn out to be a very smart one.

| ------------------------------------- | -------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Hardware redesign** | 🔥 High | New internal layout due to Oura’s patent and the need to redesign the structure for the U.S. market |
| **Slimmer profile** | 📏 High | Expected thinner ring body – a trend over the past two years since the Air model, inspired by competitors (e.g. Samsung Galaxy Ring, RingConn, Omni Ring) |
| **NFC payments** | 💳 Medium-high | Confirmed in the trademark, a real differentiator and strong response to community demand |

| **Longer battery life (6+ days)** | 🔋 Medium | More efficient chip, power optimization, and new firmware |
| **PowerPlugs integration** | ⚙️ Medium | Pure speculation: some currently paid modules (Cycle & Ovulation Pro, Cardio Adaptability, Parent Plug) might be included for free or exclusively with the Pro version |
| **Manufacturing in the U.S. (Texas)** | 🇺🇸 High | The UltraFactory in Texas is already producing the Air model; likely that the Pro will be built there too – beneficial for duties and logistics |
| **Price** | 💰 High | Estimated starting at $399 or more |
